Persica Typeface Design

The project objective is to design a contemporary typeface with alphabet of 26 letters and 11 additional punctuation and diacritical marks for using for a specific purpose.

The core concept of this project is “Rebirth”.

The modern Roman alphabets of Persica are created in order to give a new life to the extinct Language of ancient Persian.

The design of Persica inspired by the old Persian language used for written recording and royal display appeared primarily in the inscriptions, clay tablets, and seals of the Achaemenid era but it was probably spoken during the first half of the first millennium BCE.
Old Persian texts were written from left to right in the syllabic Old Persian cuneiform script and had 36 phonetic characters and 8 logograms.

This typeface is designed by using the building blocks of the ancient Persian alphabets with display specific purpose.
